Global material handling product demand will grow 4.5 percent annually through 2010, led by developing countries such as China, India, Turkey, Mexico and Russia. Western Europe and Japan will show renewed strength and the US market will accelerate. Automated products such as robots and AGVs will lead gains.

This study analyzes the $93.8 billion world material handling industry. It presents historical demand data for 1995, 2000 and 2005 and forecasts to 2010 and 2015 by material handling product (e.g., industrial trucks and lifts; conveying equipment; hoists, cranes and monorails; automated storage/retrieval systems; software and services); by market (e.g., durable goods manufacturers, nondurable goods manufacturers); by world region (e.g., Asia/Pacific, North America, Western Europe); and for 37 major national markets.

The study also considers market environment indicators, details industry structure, evaluates company market share and profiles 42 major players including Toyota Industries, Linde, Cargotec, NACCO and Jungheinrich.
