Global demand for membranes is projected to grow 8.6 percent annually through 2012. Concerns about water quality and waste stream disposal, as well as food and beverage safety regulations, will propel sales. Large, developing countries with stressed local water resources will be the fastest growing markets. North America will remain the largest outlet and post strong advances.

This study analyzes the $10 billion world membrane industry. It presents historical demand data for the years 1997, 2002 and 2007, and forecasts for 2012 and 2017 by product (e.g., microfiltration, reverse osmosis, ultrafiltration), market (e.g., water treatment, wastewater treatment, food and beverage processing, pharmaceutical and medical), world region and for 18 countries.

The study also considers market environment factors, details industry structure, evaluates company market share, and profiles 36 industry players, including Pall, GE Water & Process Technologies, and Millipore.
