INDUSTRY ANALYST
Industry Market
Researchers/Writers - The Freedonia Group has a number of
openings for individuals who can author industry market
research studies. Studies are typically 150-250 pages in
length, and contain an analysis of market shares,
competitive strategies, new product developments and key
industry trends, as well as quantitative product and market
forecasts.
Initially, you will work with a supervisor and be trained to
conduct secondary and primary market research with respect
to a particular industry. Industries covered by Freedonia
include chemicals, plastics, building materials, packaging,
automotive, energy, industrial components, life sciences, as
well as many others. The information that you collect will
then be converted to a comprehensive industry study.
The position requires strong writing and
analytic skills. A graduate degree and some industry
experience are preferred. A competitive compensation and

JUNIOR
ECONOMIST
We are currently seeking a junior
economist to join the Industry Analyst group. As a junior
economist, you will be responsible for making sure the
numbers used in multiple studies are consistent with
published data and across TFG studies. The junior economist
is responsible for helping to put together three major sets
of information:

US, China and World Composites
historical series and forecasts for 5- and 10-years ahead,
which include variables such as GDP, population,
construction spending, and manufacturers� shipments
-
Other economic indicators for analysts� studies
- US and
European trade data
Some of the information is
required on a regular basis. For example, the US composites
are done four times a year, while the China and World
Composites are done twice a year. The indicators and the
trade data requests arise in the course of the various
studies done by the industry analysts. In addition to
fulfilling the duties mentioned above, a good junior
economist will find ways to organize information and present
it in forms that will make it easier and faster for TFG
analysts to access.Skills / Qualifications
- Good G.P.A
- B.A/B.S. or M.A. in Economics, Math, Business, or
Accounting a plus (other degrees will be considered)
- Spreadsheets: beyond basics a plus
- Research �
comfortable conducting research and working with primary and
secondary documents, as well as the ability to assess the
quality of sources
- Self-disciplined and able to meet
deadlines
- Capable of multitasking and working on
multiple projects at the same time
- Good Interpersonal
Skills/Communication Skills
The skills required to
be a good junior economist are an ability to find sources of
information, critically assess those sources and reconcile
them, and develop a method for basic forecasting.
Econometric skills are not needed. Writing skills are not
critical, but an ability to communicate verbally is
important. This is a job where you get to set your own
schedule, budgeting time so that information can be passed
on to the industry analysts in a timely fashion.

years experience. The successful candidate will have an
impressive capacity to recognize what is insightful and
easily understood business English and what is not. Superior
writing skills and attention to detail are required, but
candidates do not have to have editing experience.

in English/Writing), and education and/or experience related
