World electric transmission and distribution equipment demand will rise 4.4 percent annually through 2011. The industrial and commercial sector will see the strongest gains as cogeneration proliferates and products such as high voltage transformers become more common outside of the utility sector.

This study analyzes the $85 billion world electric power equipment industry. It presents historical demand data (1996, 2001, 2006) and forecasts for the years 2011 and 2016 by product (transformers, switchgear and switchboard apparatus); market (industrial, commercial and other; electric utilities; residential); world region (e.g., North America, Asia/Pacific, Western Europe); and for 17 national markets.

The study also considers market environment factors, details industry structure, evaluates company market share and profiles 27 major players including ABB, Schneider Electric, Siemens, AREVA, Mitsubishi Electric, Hitachi, Toshiba, General Electric, Eaton, Legrand and Cooper.
