US plastic container demand will grow 5.4 percent annually through 2012, driven by plastics many advantages over other packaging media. Plastic bottles and jars will remain the dominant category, while other types such as plastic cans and squeeze tubes grow the fastest. PET will continue as the leading plastic container resin.
