Demand for fluorochemicals in the US will reach 1.5 billion pounds in 2006, boosted by continued growth in the key refrigerant and coatings uses. High value gases, polymers and specialty organics will outpace lower-cost fluorocarbons and inorganics. Hydrofluorocarbons will continue to replace hydrochlorofluorocarbons and other chemicals.

This study analyzes the $3.5 billion US fluorochemicals industry. It presents historical data for 1992, 1996 and 2001 and forecasts to 2006 and 2011 by product (e.g., fluorocarbons, fluoropolymers, specialty organics, inorganic fluorine gases, inorganic fluorochemicals); by function (e.g., refrigerants, coatings, parts and components, electronics, fluoropolymer precursors, blowing agents, solvents and cleaners); and by market.

The study also examines the market environment, details industry structure and market share, and profiles 29 key companies including DuPont, 3M, Honeywell, Solvay, Atofina, Air Products and Chemicals, Asahi Glass, Daikin, and INEOS Fluor.
