US demand for pressure sensitive (PSA) tapes will be driven by gains over alternative joining methods in manufacturing and packaging. Technical and specialty types such as backed double-sided, adhesive transfer and single-sided electronic tapes will grow the fastest. Higher-end plastic films will continue to supplant cloth, paper and commodity film-backed tapes.

This study analyzes the $4.7 billion US pressure sensitive tape industry. It presents historical data for 1993, 1998 and 2003 and forecasts to 2008 and 2013 by material, by product (e.g., carton-sealing, masking, medical, transparent, strapping and bundling, duct, electrical, electronic, back double-sided, adhesive transfer); and by market.

The study also examines the market environment, details industry structure and market share, and profiles 37 leading competitors including 3M, Intertape Polymer Group, Tyco Adhesives, Shurtape, Avery Denison, Beiersdorf, and Nitto Denko.
