Recovered Metals: United States
This report forecasts to 2018 the total recovery of post-consumer metal from the US municipal solid waste stream in short tons. For comparison, this report also forecasts to 2018 the total generation of post-consumer metal in tons. Total metal recovery and generation are segmented by metal type as follows: steel and other ferrous, lead, aluminum, and other nonferrous (generation only).
To illustrate historical trends, total metal generated and recovered is provided in an annual series from 2003 to 2013; the various segments of recovered and generated metal are reported at five-year intervals for 2008 and 2013. An Industry Overview section defines materials, discusses market drivers and constraints, identifies substitute products when applicable, and provides pertinent background on recycling initiatives and secondary metal production.
An Industry Forecasts section assesses the impact of key drivers and constraints on each material segment over the forecast period.
Further analysis includes an Industry Structure section, which surveys the supply base and profiles the leading companies competing to serve US demand. A one-page, introductory Highlights section summarizes key findings from this 23-page report, and a Resources section lists contributing sources as well as resources available for further research.
