The world’s flexible packaging market is predicted to increase 3.5% per year to reach 19m tonnes in 2013, according to a new Freedonia report. According to the new study, ‘World Converted Flexible Packaging’, growth will come from an increase in food and beverage production. In addition, cost, performance, and source reduction advantages, as well as developments in high-barrier resins and value-added features, will mean flexible packaging will be favoured over its rigid counterparts, says the firm.
