The manufactured housing industry is impacted by a variety of regulatory issues on both local and federal levels, both positively and negatively. According to analyst Mariel Behnke, “Among the most significant of the many regulatory issues facing the manufactured housing industry is the HUD Code.”

India represents a large and growing market for private security services, employing 8.9 million people and posting revenues of $8.5 billion in 2015. Security services revenue more than doubled between 2010 and 2015, one of the strongest growth rates of any nation globally.

The US is the largest market for internal combustion engine (OEM) and related filters in the world, and in 2015 was significantly larger than the Chinese market, which was the second largest.

Demand for air and fluid filters in the Asia/Pacific region totaled $11.4 billion in 2015, representing the world’s largest regional market. Because the area is home to both developed and developing economies, air and fluid filter demand tends to vary considerably from country to country.

Consumer battery demand totaled $6.1 billion in 2015, accounting for over two-fifths of the overall battery market. Through 2020, sales of batteries used in consumer applications are forecast to expand 2.5 percent per annum.

Demand for biocidal copper-based compounds is expected to rise 8.8 percent annually to $610 million in 2020, faster than the overall gains for other metal-based biocides.

Through 2020, the market for packaging coatings is expected to increase 1.9 percent per year to 60 million gallons. Gains will represent a strong acceleration in growth compared with the 2010-2015 performance, in which demand was nearly flat.

Demand for metallic gaskets is forecast to advance 4.7 percent per year through 2020 to $2.2 billion, slowing from the robust pace of the 2010-2015 period but continuing to outperform nonmetallic gaskets as metallic gaskets continue to supplant nonmetallics in a number of applications.

Historically, solvent-based coatings have maintained the largest share of protective and specialty coatings. However, solvent-based coatings are projected to be surpassed by water-based coatings by 2020 as regulatory concerns continue to impact the protective and specialty market.

Gains will be driven primarily by the widespread shift among preserved wood retailers toward stocking a greater concentration of ground-contact-rated decking materials and taking smaller orders for above-ground-rated decking
