This report forecasts US analytical instrument demand and shipments in US dollars at the manufacturers' level, as well as US research and development (R&D) expenditures, to 2020. Total demand and shipments are segmented by product in terms of: laboratory instruments, electrical measuring equipment, process control instruments, and other instruments. Total R&D expenditures are segmented by the source of funds as follows: industrial, federal government, universities and colleges, and nonprofit and other.
To illustrate historical trends, total demand, total shipments, total R&D expenditures, and the various segments are provided in annual series from 2005 to 2015. A Market Environment section provides pertinent background on historical trends; key economic indicators; and trends in trade, environmental and regulatory factors, and research and development.
