Product segments include: turbines (wind, gas combustion, and steam and hydraulic types), turbine engines, and turbine generators and generator sets. Reported markets encompass: power generation; aircraft (including space vehicle) engines; and other markets, including marine turbine engines and specialty industrial applications found mostly in petroleum and gas-related settings, such as gas pipeline compressor drives. World regions include North America, Western Europe, Asia/Pacific, and all other regions.

To illustrate historical trends, world, product, market, and regional demand (including product and market segments) are provided for 2009, 2014, and 2019.

This report treats original equipment demand for turbine products used in aircraft or marine vessels as occurring in the nation where the vehicle is built. In contrast, aftermarket demand is counted in the nation where the vehicle is used. Excluded from the scope of this report are turbine blades and other separately sold parts and components of complete turbine products and systems.

For any given historical year, US dollar amounts are obtained from values expressed in the applicable local currency. These local currency values are converted to US dollars at the average annual exchange rate for that year. For forecast years, the US dollar amounts assume the same annual exchange rate as that prevailing in 2019.
