Renovation and Repair Activity will Support Growth Among Other Factors
Cleveland OH, August 23, 2024 – According to a new report from Freedonia Group, US Landscaping Products, demand for outdoor structures used in landscaping is projected to increase 5.4% per year to $3.6 billion in 2028, supported by growth in the residential market which will continue to see renovation and repair activity.
Demand will also be supported by the rising availability of prefabricated and DIY outdoor structures in major retail stores as well as increasing desire for landscaping products that reflect outdoor living trends, supporting growth for outdoor structures that enhance the amount of livable outdoor space, such as gazebos. Structures that provide additional shelter or shade, such as pergolas, will experience above average growth due to their popularity in areas that are prone to inclement weather (e.g., Midwest) or extreme sun exposure (e.g., the South and West).
The amount of space available in residential landscapes – particularly in urban areas – is often insufficient to support installation of larger, higher-value structures like greenhouses and gazebos. In these settings, smaller pergolas, arches, or trellises are often selected to enhance the aesthetics of landscapes rather than to expand their livable areas.
