Freedonia Market Research Freedonia Focus Reports Activated Carbon: United States

Activated Carbon: United States

Focus Reports, United States

Report Overview

This report forecasts to 2022 US activated carbon demand and production in metric tons. Total demand is also forecasted in nominal US dollars at the manufacturer level. Total demand by volume is segmented by product in terms of: powdered; granular; and other products such as fiber, cloth, and carbon monoliths. Total demand by volume is also segmented by market as follows: water treatment; food and beverage processing; other liquid phase markets such as pharmaceutical, medical, and mining; industrial air purification; motor vehicles; and other gas phase markets such as solvent recovery, consumer home air purifiers, and personal protection equipment.

To illustrate historical trends, total demand by volume is provided in annual series from 2007 to 2017; total production by volume, total demand by value, and the various segments are reported at five-year intervals for 2007, 2012, and 2017.

This report examines the US market for virgin activated carbon (also called activated charcoal). The report also includes reactivated carbon sold by suppliers, but excludes carbon reactivated on-site or through a reactivation service agreement. The term "regeneration" is used interchangeably with the term "desorption" to mean the removal of contaminants from activated carbon, while "reactivation" is used when discussing the destruction of contaminants and the recovery of adsorption capacity.

Key macroeconomic indicators are also provided with quantified trends. Other various topics, including profiles of pertinent leading suppliers, are covered in this report. A full outline of report items by page is available in the Table of Contents.
