Demand to fall from pandemic highs, easing of inflation
Cleveland, OH, May 23, 2024 — US demand for audio and video equipment is forecast to decline 1.9% annually in nominal terms through 2028, according to Audio & Video Equipment: United States, a report recently released by Freedonia Focus Reports. The surge in demand stimulated by the COVID-19 pandemic and the relatively strong price inflation for audio and video equipment during the 2020-2023 period will prevent growth; consumer demand was satiated, while price inflation is expected to normalize over the forecast period. In 2024, sales are expected to continue to retreat from the peaks associated with the COVID-19 pandemic, with a projected fall of 10%. However, to 2028, sales of video projectors and speakers, amplifiers, and microphones to commercial and professional users will support demand as live events and entertainment experiences continue to be popular among consumers.
To 2028, suppliers will benefit from rising disposable income levels, which will support increased expenditures on discretionary goods such as audio and video equipment and recreation services such as movies and live entertainment, boosting business fixed investment on audio and video equipment. The introduction of new equipment with updated features and improved performance will also stimulate sales. Demand will continue to be limited by the long service life of most products.
These and other key insights are featured in Audio & Video Equipment: United States. This report forecasts to 2028 US audio and video equipment demand and shipments in nominal US dollars at the manufacturer level. Total demand is segmented by product in terms of:
