Global Flooring

9th Edition

This study examines global supply and demand for flooring. Historical data (2007, 2012, and 2017) and forecasts for 2022 and 2027 are provided for flooring demand by product and market, net exports, and shipments by product (nonresilient and resilient flooring, and carpets and rugs) on a country-by-country basis.

Why is resilient flooring gaining market share?

Flooring is segmented into:

  • nonresilient flooring, including ceramic, wood, laminate, and other (including bamboo, stone, glass, metal, seamless, and plastic grating)
  • resilient flooring, including vinyl and other (including linoleum, cork, rubber, and asphalt)
  • carpets and rugs, including tufted, woven, and other (including needlepunched, knotted, knitted, and braided)

Flooring demand by market is presented for residential building, nonresidential building, and transportation equipment and other (mainly nonbuilding structures) markets. The residential and nonresidential building markets are further segmented into new construction, and improvement and repair.

Demand by product and market is presented in square meter terms, while demand totals are also presented in dollars at the regional and global levels. Demand in value terms is shown at the manufacturers’ level and excludes distributor and retailer markups.
