Freedonia announced the global siding market is projected to expand 4.2% per year through 2019 to 5.9 billion square meters, valued at US$80 billion. In the residential market, which generally accounts for about two-thirds of demand, two trends will spur gains: rebounding housing markets in higher income countries, such as the US, France, and Spain, and rising personal income levels in lower income countries, which will allow more individuals to afford houses built with multilayer construction techniques that utilize siding. According to analyst Allison Blackburn, “Metal siding is forecast to post rapid demand gains through 2019. Masonry and concrete are the most popular siding products, accounting for over three-quarters of demand in 2014.” These and other trends are presented in World Siding (Cladding), a new study from The Freedonia Group, Inc., a Cleveland-based industry research firm.
