Packaged Facts’ just-released Natural and Organic Foods and Beverages in the U.S., 5th Edition marks not only the latest edition in one of our most popular report series, but also a new beginning for one of Packaged Facts’ most accomplished market analysts, Susan Porjes. Like many Packaged Facts writers from earlier days, Susan was hired on a handshake by David A. Weiss, Packaged Facts’ founder. Since then, Susan has researched and written dozens of Packaged Facts reports, wielding vast expertise in food industry trends. Through the decades, she has pioneered reports such as Gourmet Foods (one of Packaged Facts’ longest-running and most successful series) and Ethical Foods (inspired by a poster at Rainbow Grocery Co-op in San Francisco that showed a matrix of how each farm treated its egg-laying hens). Susan has also been the innovator behind Packaged Facts’ Future of Food Retailing series, which has broadened to include groundbreaking reports on hot-button topics such as Consumers and Food Safety, Online Food Shopping and Home Delivery, and Meal Kit Delivery Services. Unfailingly both comprehensive and insightful, Susan’s work is truly that of a pro.
During her tenure at Packaged Facts, Susan relocated from Manhattan to Hawaii, and as she now surfs off into retirement (give or take, we hope, the occasional cameo at PF), we join her many friends and colleagues in wishing Susan and her family all the best. Thank you, Susan, and in its broadest and warmest sense, aloha!
