It's National Taco Day and the corresponding wealth of taco-themed restaurant promotions--from the likes of Chevy’s Fresh Mex, On the Border Mexican Grill, and Del Taco, among others--speaks to the popularity of this Mexican mainstay. Just how popular are tacos? In the brand new report Hispanic Foods and Beverages in the U.S., 6th Edition, Packaged Facts' survey data indicate that 44% of U.S. consumers eat tacos at home at least once a month. An impressive number of consumers--35%--also eat tacos away from home at least once a month. The implication is that tacos are second only to salsa among Hispanic foods regularly eaten in the U.S.
