Natural Polymers: United States

Report Overview

This report forecasts US natural polymer demand in US dollars at the manufacturers' level to 2020. Total demand is segmented by type in terms of: cellulose ethers, exudate and vegetable gums, starch and fermentation polymers, protein-based polymers, marine polymers, and other types. Total demand is also segmented by market as follows:
food and beverage, medical, oilfield, cosmetics and toiletries, and other markets.

To illustrate historical trends, total demand in both value and volume terms is provided in annual series from 2005 to 2015; the various segments are reported at five-year intervals for 2010 and 2015. A Market Environment section provides pertinent background on historical trends, key economic indicators, trade, and environmental and regulatory factors. A Segmentation and Forecasts section defines types and markets, discusses market drivers and constraints, identifies substitute products when applicable, and assesses the impact of key drivers and constraints on each type and market segment over the forecast period.

Further analysis includes an Industry Structure section, which surveys the supply base and identifies the leading firms competing to serve the US market, as well as their market share. A one-page, introductory Highlights section summarizes key findings from this 32-page report, and a Resources section lists contributing sources as well as resources available for further research.
