Report Overview

This report forecasts to 2028 US storm and sanitary sewer pipe demand in nominal US dollars at the manufacturer level. Total demand is segmented by material in terms of plastic, concrete, steel, ductile iron, clay, and aluminum. Total demand is also segmented by application as follows: storm sewer and sanitary sewer.

To illustrate historical trends, total demand is provided in annual series from 2013 to 2023; the various segments are reported at five-year intervals for 2013, 2018, and 2023.

For purposes of this report, pipe is defined as a tubular section or hollow cylinder used primarily to convey substances that can flow – such as liquids and gases (fluids), slurries, powders, and masses of small solids. Although distinctions are sometimes made between pipe and tubes, for the purposes of this report the terms “pipe”, “tube”, and “tubular products” are used interchangeably.

Excluded from the scope of this report are the following: fittings, fixtures, gutters, downspouts, hoses, and pipe liners/lining and relining.
