Recovery in home sales and residential improvement spending to drive gains in demand
Cleveland OH, October 3, 2024 — US demand for household cooking appliances is forecast to advance 7.3% annually in nominal terms through 2028, according to Household Cooking Appliances: United States, a report recently released by Freedonia Focus Reports. Suppliers are expected to benefit from ongoing growth in residential building construction expenditures as growth in population, households, and disposable personal incomes supports housing demand and related sales of cooking appliances. Following expected declines in 2024, conventional housing completions and manufactured housing shipments are projected to expand to 2028, supporting new demand for household cooking appliances. Existing home sales are projected to rebound 7.1% annually from 2023 to 2028, boosting residential building improvement activity, and benefiting replacement sales of household cooking appliances. In addition, the ongoing shift in the product mix toward appliances with more features and capabilities will support demand in value terms. The household cooking appliances market has been evolving with consumer preferences and technology. Induction cooktops have been gaining interest for their energy efficiency, safety, and faster cooking times.
This report features analysis of results from our proprietary national online consumer survey. Consumers reported on the presence of hookups for electrical and natural gas appliances in their home, their use of cooking appliances by energy type, their likely next purchase by energy type, and their attitudes regarding a potential government ban on natural gas appliances.
