Cleveland, OH, June 20, 2018 — US potash demand is forecast to total 6.1 million metric tons in 2022, according to Potash: United States, a report recently released by Freedonia Focus Reports. Demand for potash in both fertilizer and non-fertilizer applications will decline over the forecast period, driven by an uptick in price.
Potassium chloride will continue to account for the vast majority of consumption, remaining the largest demand segment. Demand is expected to fall as a result of a projected price increase through 2022 as energy costs involved in production rise.
